Adrianne Lenker – Abysskiss

Adrianne Lenker has been writing songs since she was ten years old. Her life story is known through countless interviews and band performances of her main band Big Thief. Nevertheless, or perhaps because of the constant touring and studio work, the last few years have been the most formative for Lenker as a songwriter. Songs pop up during soundchecks. They pop into her head during long drives from city to city. They emerge in locker rooms, hotel stairwells, gardens and kitchens around the globe

In the hands of Adrianne Lenker, songwriting is not an old, dead craft. It is alive. It is vital. She pays no attention to the usual album cycles, nor to the idea of resting. She set out to document. Songs can be fleeting and after spending more than two years on the road with Big Thief, Adrianne Lenker grew a desire to musically process this special time in her life in an intimate, direct way. The result is this album "Abysskiss".
